GEO / AI Search Optimization
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) makes your brand easy for AI assistants to understand, trust and quote. It combines entity SEO, structured data, crawl access for AI bots and content written in clear, citable answers.
What is Generative Engine Optimization?
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of making your brand visible inside answers written by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews. When someone asks “what is the best tool for X” or “who is a good SEO consultant for coupon sites”, the brands mentioned in the answer get the attention, often without a click.
Why are AI assistants not mentioning my brand?
There are usually three reasons:
- They can’t access you. Your robots.txt, firewall or CDN blocks AI crawlers.
- They can’t identify you. Your brand name, description and profiles differ across the web, so AI systems can’t match them up.
- They can’t quote you. Your pages bury the answer under marketing copy, so a cleaner competitor gets cited instead.
How do you measure AI search visibility?
I keep a fixed set of prompts that reflect how your buyers ask questions, run them across the main assistants every month, and record mentions, citations and sentiment. It is the AI-search equivalent of rank tracking.
What's included
- AI visibility baseline across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and AI Overviews
- Entity audit covering name, descriptor and sameAs consistency across the web
- Organization / Person / Product schema with stable @id references
- robots.txt and CDN review so AI crawlers are not blocked
- llms.txt setup
- Rewrites of key pages into answer-first, quotable sections
- Off-site mention plan (directories, profiles, PR, Wikidata eligibility)
How it works
Baseline
I run a fixed set of prompts that buyers use and record which brands each AI assistant mentions and cites.
Entity and technical fixes
Schema, sameAs, crawl access and llms.txt, so AI systems can resolve exactly who you are.
Content restructuring
Key pages get direct answers, question-style headings, tables and sources.
Off-site signals
A prioritised list of profiles, listings and publications that strengthen your entity.
Monthly tracking
The same prompts are re-run each month so you can see how your share of AI answers changes.
What you get
- AI visibility baseline and monthly tracking sheet
- Schema and robots.txt ready to deploy
- Rewritten or annotated key pages
- Off-site entity action plan

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO aims to rank pages in search results. GEO aims to get your brand mentioned and cited inside AI-generated answers. They share foundations such as crawlability, authority and clear content, but GEO puts more weight on entities, structured data and quotable answers.
Can you guarantee my brand appears in ChatGPT?
No one can guarantee AI answers. What I can do is remove the technical and content barriers and measure how your share of answers changes over time.
Does GEO replace traditional SEO?
No. AI assistants lean heavily on pages that already rank and are well linked, so strong SEO remains the base GEO builds on.
How long until results show?
Technical fixes can be picked up within weeks. Entity and mention work usually takes 3–6 months to show clearly in AI answers.
